Max Finkelstein
20th Century Modern Sculptor, painter
American, b. June 15, 1915 A solo exhibition of Finkelstein’s sculpture was presented at the Long Beach Museum of Art in 1969. Like many contemporary artists working in the legacy of European Modernism and Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Finkelstein was interested in using modern technology, materials, and optics and exploring their artistic potential. Finkelstein described his focus as “that of the viewer becoming the kinetic force, activating the elements and design in the composition of the art” by observing from several vantage points.
