Commentary
The Roman king of the gods, Jupiter (or Zeus as he was known to the Greeks), is shown here with his symbols - the lightening bolt and the eagle, while the goddess Minerva (or Athena as she was known to the Greeks) is shown with her symbols - an owl, a shield with the head of Medusa, and a warrior's helmet.
