Commentary
Walkowitz' "Two Nude Women," disposes monumental forms of generalized features in a modernist composition of quiet gestural tension. In this work the volumes of the figures are defined by skeins of interlacing marks, which also emphasize the surfaces of the forms. The viewer is made aware of the kinetic process of drawing, of energy expended, of the artist's agency as it assumes priority over the representational function of the images.
