The artist, whose ceramic sculpture "Happy Birthday, Frog Fred" is also in the Museum's collection, is best known for his whimsical social satires in which frogs stand in for human counterparts. Gilhooly's frogs possess all the attributes and foibles of their human equivalents and they cause us to smile at our frailties while learning more about ourselves and others.
