Commentary
These four figures, representing differing times of the year, are identified by activities or crops associated with each particular season. Winter wears skates and a warm, heavy cloak while spring carries a blossom and a basket of flowers. Summer clutches a cluster of grapes and a glass of wine while autumn holds a scythe and a sheaf of wheat.

Three of the four figures appear to have an unusually intimate relationship to nature in that all the figures except winter walk on earth without shoes.
