Commentary
Pearlware, a form of earthenware developed by Josiah Wedgwood (1730 - 1795) about 1775, is fairly light in color and looks much like porcelain. Like most earthenware, because it is fired at a relatively low temperature, pearlware must be glazed so as not to absorb water.
