Commentary
A highly productive artist known to his students as "Mr. Perfection," Bacerra puts a contemporary spin on the complicated surface treatments of traditional Japanese Imari porcelain. This platter incorporates many of the complex designs and patterns that Bacerra typically weaves across the surface of his work in colored and luster glazes. In his overlay of rectilinear forms, Bacerra loves to play with illusionistic perspective.
