Commentary
This vase, created at Pond Farm after the artist's move to California, combines the raw energy of her American production with a sense of order and structure, underscoring the artist's indebtedness to the German Bauhaus tradition. The complex overlapping grids created by incising parallel lines into the surface of the vessel lend a sense of geometric structure to this monumental clay form.
